Storylines and Key Pieces
Eagles - Undefeated but Beatable
Philadelphia enters this week as only one of two teams in the NFL that are undefeated, but they have had their tests along the way. Their offense continues to perform and their defense has been pretty consistent. But, the injury report ahead of their matchup with the AFC West Broncos has a few red flags. A crucial piece to their offense in tight end, Dallas Goedert missed Wednesday's practice with a knee issue and other key players like Lane Johnson, Jalen Carter, Adoree' Jackson, and Nakobe Dean have also been limited throughout the week.
If these players are off the field or not performing at full strength, the Broncos have areas that they can target in the game.
Broncos - Hungry for a Big Win
The Mile High team coming off a solid performance on Monday night against the Bengals are eager to carry their momentum into a big game against the Eagles. The Broncos have yet to trail during any point in the 4th quarter this season, but still hold a middle of the pack record at 2-2. Both of those losses came from a walk off field goal as time expired. Heading into this week, the Broncos will need all of their key players to contribute.
The injury report has Marvin Mims Jr. as a limited participant in practice Wednesday as he is battling some hip and ankle discomfort, but look for him to play this Sunday. Fullback/Tight End Nate Adkins is working his way through concussion protocol and did not practice this Wednesday, so look for another tight end in Adam Trautman or Lucas Krull so step up this week. Outside Linebacker Jonah Ellis was also limited with a rib injury, but stay tuned as he is expected to play.
Head Coach Sean Payton is excited in the direction of the team, but has to be conscious of the Eagles and their infamous "tush push" as they head into Lincoln Financial. Keep an eye on how the Denver Broncos defense attacks that play and looks to minimizes its effectiveness.
Looking Ahead
If the Denver Broncos can walk out of Philadelphia with a competitive showing against the undefeated Eagles, or even pull of a win, it will set the tone for the next stretch of their schedule. This game will be an early look at their playoff hopes and used as a way to measure their standings throughout the rest of the season.
